“The Washoe Tribal Historic Preservation Office (THPO) was formed in 2006, and is a Tribal self governance initiative providing for direct Tribal involvement and leadership in the protection and enhancement of Washoe lands and cultural resources. The THPO is within the Tribe’s Cultural Resources Office and coordinates government to government consultation o projects and activities on all tribal lands, including Washoe traditional ancestral territory. We work with federal agencies, the States of Nevada and California, other tribes, local governments and organizations to protect and preserve cultural and heritage resources”.
