Incentive Scholarship

Fall ‘09

The Washoe Tribe is pleased to announce that eleven of our best Higher Education college students divided $10,300. of Incentive Scholarship money this Fall.  Each student received $936.for earning a 3.0 gpa while full time this past Spring or Summer and for continuing full time this Fall.  Congratulations go to these Tribal members who excel in college.

The Incentive Scholarship is based on merit, not financial need.  Many current Tribal students do not qualify for BIA Higher Education Scholarships because they are over income as determined by a financial aid officer.  However, they can qualify for this scholarship because we do not look at family income.

The next scholarship deadline is Jan. 31, 2010.  The scholarship will be awarded to full time Washoe enrolled students this Fall who earn a 3.0 gpa and who continue full time next Spring.  Be aware that this scholarship is contingent on  Tribal council allocating money to this fund each year during the budget process.  You can pick up an Incentive application in PDF format on the Tribe’s website, or call Sherry Smokey at   (775)265-8600 x 1136.  email with questions:  This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
