What is Native T.A.N.F.?

The Native TANF program provides temporary aid and services to Native American families that are at risk of welfare dependency. The program focuses on services that strengthen families, prepare workers for jobs and enable recipients to achieve self-sufficiency.


Who is Eligible…

…to receive services from Washoe Native T.A.N.F.?


• In California, enrolled members or descendants of a federally recognized tribe, descendants of the California Judgment Roll or an American Indian tribal member with at least one Native American child living in the service area.

• In Nevada, services are limited to members or descendants of the Washoe Tribe.

• A family includes at least one Native child (natural, step or adopted) who is under the age of 18 that lives in a household with a Native or non-Native single parent family, two-parent, family, or caretaker relative.

• Have a total family income of less than 200% of the federal poverty guidelines for cash assistance.

• Eligible expectant mothers may become eligible for services in the third trimester of pregnancy.
